Lift your mood and nourish your yin

TODAY, I’m changing up the tone and addressing the all important YIN AND YANG. 

We live in a world of yang; moving quickly, not having enough time in the day to breath, running to work and always feeling pressured to do more. We are encouraged to work longer hours more often to make something of our lives, and have a feeling of guilt if we rest and relax.

Balancing out our yin with the yang keeps us positive and happy. Here is a smoothie recipe to lift your mood and nourish your yin!!!

THOSE WHO WANT TO HEAR IT FROM A CHINESE MEDICINE PERSPECTIVE

Beetroot is cool in nature and sweet, it clears heat from the body and nourishes the blood. Beetroot is yin because of its cooling effect on the body while cinnamon is warming in nature and nurtures the yang and tonifies the spleen and stomach.

Balancing Yin and Yang Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Blueberries
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 1 tbsp Almond Butter
  • 1/4 cup Beetroot Cooked for 15 min and then cooled
  • 1 Handful Spinach
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon 2 tsp, if you really like it
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Milk of your choice

Instructions

  • Cook the Beetroot for 15 minutes and then allow to cool
  • Blend everything together and enjoy

Notes

  • Beetroot is cool in nature and sweet

    • It nurtures the yang and tonifies the spleen and stomach.
